I am a 47 year old arborist and tree climber who has spent the last ten years of my life living with constant pain in my back and neck. This has led me to taking a supervisory role at my job, which in turn has led to an increase in my stress level as well as contributing to a 40lbs. weight gain.
When I heard Dr. Deveau's radio commercial I decided I would give chiropractic care another try. After several visits with Dr. Deveau for some adjustments, and his coaching me in other areas of health and wellness, I no longer have those nagging pains every day that I once thought I would have to endure forever. He was even able to eliminate my carpal tunnel symptoms of pain and numbness that other doctors told me could only be cured by surgery.
Dr. Deveau's approach to whole body care and wellness, which includes proper diet and mild exercise has led to some immediate weight loss and a new outlook for my future. I am once again climbing trees and running chainsaws without the after effects of pain and numbness. My only regret is not taking action sooner. I would highly recommend to anyone living in constant pain to see Dr. Deveau and start living pain free, I'm sure glad I did.
Thanks again Dr. Deveau,

The following is my opinion of the Healthy Lifestyles lecture that Dr. Chris Deveau presented on March 19, 2008. I have had chiropractic care for atleast 25 years now and this explained a lot of what happens to your body when you maintain your health with chiropractic. It was a very informative session and would be beneficial to anyone who has ever had chiropractic care before. I would recommend it to aanyone who is curious about the benefits of chiropractic care.

I have been living with Degenerative Disc Disease(DDD), apparently since having multiple injuries in the Navy, since I was 20 years old. For many years I was able to manage the problems associated with DDD through chiropractic care, accupuncture, exercise, and yoga. From 2001 through 2006 I began to have increased pain and mobility problems. My sleep was terrible. I would awaken several times a night with sciatic nerve pain, and muscle spasms. I had excruciating upper back pain, from ruptured discs in my neck. I had two ruptured discs in my lumbar spine also. These discs were causing sciatic nerve pain, groin pain, and serious discomfort in my lower back and extremities. All of the things that had helped me in the past, were no longer working. I began a series of epidural injections in my neck and lower spine. In October 2005 I made the decision to have two surgeries. I laughed about the risks of surgery, thinking that nothing bad would happen to me. I had three cervical discs removed. They also performed a spinal fusion. The procedure went well. A week later I nearly died from pulmonary embolisms and was hospitalized for 10 days. I was out of work for 4+ months. During my recovery I was told that I would be a high risk for another surgery. This was no longer an option. I became extremely depressed and could not imagine living with this amount of pain. I began searching for new options.
In the fall of 2006 I learned of Spinal Decompression. Having had traction on my lower back at a physical therapist, I couldn't imagine that this would be any different. I met with a few providers who offer this treatment. I was most impressed with Mystic River Spinal Care(East West Chiropractic), as they offer a holistic approach that the other providers do not have. They told me that I would need to make dietary changes(damn!), loose weight, and exercise. My first week of decompression was difficult. I actually felt worse, but when the first weekend came, I was amazed at the change in pain levels. I have completed the series of treatments and I am grateful for Mystic River Spinal Care's help. I am able to walk today( free of sciatic nerve pain), my sleep and my mood are improved, and I am continuing to make lifestyle changes. I am feeling optimistic about the future. I am using the exercises they have taught me, and have begun nutritional counseling. My only regret is that I had not found this treatment before having surgery on my neck. I would definitely recommend the treatment to anymone suffering from DDD.
